My $10 garden has given me lots of joy, especially in the last few days before the cold weather began. I was able to get lots of bee photos, which just makes my heart sing. Each afternoon I would go out and walk round and round taking hundreds of photos, enabling me to get one or two good shots. I miss these flowers already.

Don’t worry about the pollinators in my yard. There are lots of native flowers growing all around us. We don’t mow everywhere, and instead just mow pathways to get to where we need to go. This gives the asters and goldenrod their chance to shine.

I recently heard a fascinating webinar put on by Pollinator Pathway featuring Desiree Narango from the Vermont Center for Ecostudies. I was reminded about the importance of oak trees, asters and goldenrod for supporting pollinators. Check both organizations out to learn how you can help because small things you do make a big difference.:
